Children and ankylosing spondylitis |

A rare form of the illness may affect children, mostly boys. This type of illness usually has its onset at the age of 8-12 years and the symptoms are swelling and pain in arms and legs. If children with siblings or parents with ankylosing spondylitis complain about having back and joint pain it is cause for extra attention that the child may have an early stage of ankylosing spondylitis.
